I had a very interesting week. On Monday, April 4, 2016, there was a Dedication of the Rev Dr. Martin Luther King, Memorial Bridge by the Chester County Commissioners in Phoenixville Pennsylvania lead by the Phoenixville Social Concern Committee. This was history in the making, which I was, a part of that meant so much to me. The North and South side of Phoenixville connected where the bridge is located in the town. This is also where the hugest divided in the community lies. How proud we are in Phoenixville, now to dedicate and named the bridge “Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial Bridge”. Now it is the time to really break down barriers and unite the community through all the work the Social Concerns Committee has done by their hard work, celebrating and embracing the community 22 years through the “Annual Community Prayer Breakfast” held in April each year. The Community Prayer Breakfast unites all of the faith community to come together. The purpose of the Social Concerns Committee is Community for United… Respect…Responsibility….Reward……
The Mission: The Phoenixville Area Social Concerns Committee promotes community and racial harmony throughout the Greater Phoenixville community in the spirit of the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., through direct action and relevant events.” I am very proud of what has been accomplished through all the hard work by committed members in our community.
Now we can say “Phoenixville Community is Here To Unite”.
After the dedication my church home, Bethel Baptist Church hosted the Celebratory Luncheon. It was wonderful full day of fellowship and connecting. It was quite an experience when I asked my Pastor about how he prays for so many people and how he remembers all those names. We discussed how we had to look and read from our list of Prayer Request. He then asked me if he was on my Prayer List. I looked at him and I was so shocked. I had tell him the truth, he was not. I was so embarrassed and I said to him, you have just chosen the next topic for this week prayer for Purposeful Prayer Partners. We will pray for all Pastors and Ministers across the nation. And that he would also be put on the Prayer Request list as MY PASTOR “Rev Nathan Coleman”. He was very happy and pleased with that. So let’s together pray for our Pastors and Ministers. The greatest gift we can give them is to pray for them. They really need our prayers, they cannot win the battle alone. They need intercessors to lift them up in fervent prayer. They are human and they face challenges too. Imagine if we were to pray faithfully for your Pastors and Ministers.
1 Peter 4:11 - If any man speak, [let him speak] as the oracles of God; if any man minister, [let him do it] as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom be praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.
